What are terms to remember in the study of the theory of motivation?
Need is something an organism will die of if the body does not receive it. Examples are oxygen, food, and water. Wants is something that will give an organism the feeling of dissatisfaction if they do not receive it. Examples are material things. Motive is something that pushes an organism to act. It is the reason behind their action, may it be stated or not. Drive is something innate in an organism to attain a goal or satisfy a need. Goal is something an organism is attaining in order to get a desired result or a need satisfied. Effort is something an organism attempts to do in order to reach their goal. Desire is something an organism strongly wants or wishes for, and is sometimes turns into an impulse. Energy is the strength used to sustain something. Persistence is something that gets an organism to accomplish a goal despite of obstacles or opposing forces. Active Involvement; according to Revans (1907), “students participate in the process and students participate when they are doing something besides passively listening.”
