Born on December 30, 1978, Tyrese Gibson grew up in Watts in Los Angeles. Tyrese’s first singing contract was with ‘RCA Records’, with whom he signed in early 1998. He released ‘Nobody Else’, his first single from his self-titled studio album on August 4, 1998. The song was produced by Jack Job and it reached the #36 spot on the ‘US Billboard Hot 100’ chart. The album itself, released on September 29, 1998, was certified Platinum on March 30, 1999, by RIAA. ‘Sweet Lady’, another single from the album, brought him his first Grammy nomination. He Portrayed Sgt. Robert Epps in the Michael Bay’s 2007 sci-fi extravaganza ‘Transformers’. Starring alongside Shia LaBeouf, Megan Fox, and Josh Duhamel, this was Gibson’s first collaboration with the flamboyant filmmaker Michael Bay. He reprised his role in the first two sequels of ‘Transformers’, ‘Revenge of the Fallen’ (2009) and ‘The Dark of the Moon’ (2011). With proceeds of $4.2 billion at the box office, the franchise is the 10th highest-grossing film series of all time. In 2000, Tyrese Gibson won the ‘American Music Award’ for favourite new R&B/Soul artist. At the ‘2001 Locarno International Film Festival’, his movie ‘Baby Boy’ won the ‘Special Mention Award’ for “its innovative concept and ensemble acting.”
