What are the possible outcomes of the decision of the court in the Sagales' case?

Since other employees can now cite this case to justify that market value is not important when analyzing cases of theft, there is a higher chance for theft case to proliferate in an employer-employee setting. It is right and just to pay the defendant the remuneration for his retirement however, in my opinion, since this case falls under Section 7 of the Labor Code of the Philippines, where “the separation from work of an employee for a just cause does not entitle him to the termination pay provided in Code, without prejudice, however, to whatever rights, benefits, and privileges he may have under the applicable individual or collective bargaining agreement with the employer or voluntary employer policy or practice.” It should be up to the employer to whether or not award the defendant his rights in privileges, particularly his retirement pay because the case still falls under the Just Causes of Termination under the Labor Code of the Philippines.
