What are some laws about Public Health in the Philippines?
According to the Republic Act No. 9502, which is an act that provides cheaper and quality medicines in order to protect the health of the public, especially at the times of extreme urgency. Hence, there would be an effective policy for the supply of these quality specific drugs and medicines that are legally recognized by the state as an instrument to improve public health; it will then adopt specific measures to promote and ensure access to affordable medicines. According to the Department of Health, there are a variety of public health issues that needs to be addressed on and majority of them are (1) The sudden increase on the HIV/ AIDS Positive cases wherein there is a 49% increase of the cases since 2015, (2) the expensive trend of medicine in the Philippines compared to its neighboring countries with the same economic status, (3) Lacking and poor healthcare benefits needed for the millions of families who can’t afford hospital expenses.
