What is Pansexuality?
Pansexuality is defined as the sexual attraction or desire, romantic love or emotional attraction towards people, regardless of their sex or gender identity. Pansexual people are considered gender blind, for whom gender and sex are insignificant or irrelevant in deciding who they will be sexually attracted to. Pansexuality is also called omnisexuality. Pansexuality is derived from “pan”, the ancient Greek word for “all” or “every.” The word pansexual was first used in 1917, denoting that the sex instinct plays the primary part in all human activity, mental and physical. Another possible definition would be someone who is sexually attracted to people regardless of gender. That avoids the problem of gender confusion but has a different problem, which is that many bisexuals have used this as a definition of bisexuality for decades, leading to some resentment that some people outside the well-developed bisexual community have invented a different word for the same thing.
