What are other consequences of the American National Style?

Other consequence is impatience. It occurs when positive results are not soon forthcoming. The desire for quick and visible results is seen by many as creating a bias for the use of the military as an instrument of foreign policy. The demand for quick results leads to reliance on military power. However, this may lead to a failure in its political objectives then diplomacy may be turned to. Frustration will set in and will dominate US foreign policy until a consensus exists supporting new foreign policy initiatives. The US can be trusted with testing and developing nuclear weapons while other states, specifically third world states, are not. US urges its allies not to sell weapons to terrorists or to those who support them while at the same time the US is selling weapons to Iran hoping to secure the release of the hostages in Lebanon during the Iran Contra affair.
