What is the moral of On The Job?

The message of the movie is in line with Dr. Philip Zimbardo’s argument in his controversial Stanford Prison Experiment (1971), that when people are given too much power, they will turn into oppressors. The government officials in the film did what they had to do in order to remain in their seat of power. Since Daniel is groomed to replace Mario, in the end, Mario killed Daniel because he realized had no future outside of prison because his estranged family no longer wanted to do anything with him. If only simple people like Mario and Daniel were given a different path to live, they wouldn’t have had resorted to being hitmen. This can be tied to the fact that the rampant corruption in the Philippines is deeply affecting the lives of Filipinos in all aspects, may it be economical, socially, physically, and mentally. If Filipinos are given better education, job opportunities, healthcare, housing, and other basic needs, they wouldn’t have to do odd jobs in order to survive. But then again, corruption is not an easy problem to solve. It is a choice between anarchy or corruption, and Filipinos are most probably going to make the most traditional decision.
