What is Breast Cancer?

Breast cancer starts in the cells of the breast. A cancerous tumor is a group of cancer cells that can grow into and destroy nearby tissue. It can also spread to other parts of the body. Cells in the breast sometimes change and no longer grow or behave normally. These changes may lead to non-cancerous breast conditions such as atypical hyperplasia and cysts. They can also lead to non-cancerous tumors such as intraductal papillomas. In addition, Breast cancer is the leading cause of death for women aged 34 to 54. Breast cancer can have a number of symptoms but usually, shows as a lump or thickening in the breast tissue. Other common symptoms may include deformity, ulcers, and discharge from the nipple. Breast cancer is treated using a combination of surgery, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy. Some cases of breast cancer may also be treated using biological or hormone treatments. There is a good chance of recovery if it is detected in its early stages. For this reason, it is vital that women check their breasts regularly for any changes and always get any changes examined by their doctors.
