Pfizer was started in 1849 by cousins Charles Pfizer and Charles Erhart. Pfizer was first established in Brooklyn, New York. Pfizer is a worldwide corporation that operates in over 180 countries with over one-hundred thousand employees. The Company has a Process Development Laboratory in Mumbai exclusively used for the study and development of new processes for the basic manufacture of drugs. It has a Pharmaceutical Product Development Laboratory also located in Mumbai. A large research and development laboratory at Thane was commissioned in 1969. In addition, the Company’s categories and product lines in its consumer healthcare business include dietary supplements, such as Centrum brands, including Centrum, Centrum Silver, Centrum Men’s and Women’s, Centrum MultiGummies, Caltrate and Emergen-C; pain management, such as Advil brands including Advil, Advil PM, Advil Liqui-Gels, Advil Film Coated, and Advil, and personal care, such as Robitussin, Advil Cold and Sinus, Advil Sinus Congestion and Pain, ChapStick, and Dimetapp.
