How to be a better spouse?
Every couple wants to last and no one wants to wish ill for their relationship or their partner despite the occurrence of bad times. One of the most concrete findings from long-term relationship research was that happier couples had a ratio of five positive interactions to every negative interaction. That means plenty of enjoyable engagement with your partner that offsets the less than enjoyable interplay that often occurs in relationships. In addition, research has found that couples who pick up on each other’s cues for attention and give what’s required 86 % of the time are far happier than those who give attention to their partner fleetingly or rarely. In any interaction, we have the chance to give our partner our attention and affection and show that what they are doing or saying matters. Lastly, couples who consider themselves in a happy relationship tend to ignore the annoyances and focus on the all the good things. Appreciation has a knock on effect meaning that the more you find it in your relationship, the more it’ll keep on happening.
