What is the history of Uber?

Travis Kalanick and Garrett Camp, two 30-year old business acquaintances attending a conference in Paris, were discussing the proverbial travails of an urban life back in 2008.  A few tested prototypes, they rolled out a beta launch for ‘UberCab’ in 2010 for a couple of cars in New York. The trademark black cars, manned by just a 4-man team in San Francisco were now ready to make an impactful splash on the streets and redefine the way people commute across the world. Uber customers aren’t the only ones experiencing positive effects from the implementation of this service. A study in 2013 calculated that working as an Uber driver can earn some upwards of $500 per day, which otherwise takes close to a week to make. The word of mouth publicity of its service, ease of payment, coupled with its satisfied tech-crazy customer base on social media has further spiraled this company’s present-day valuation close to a whopping $ 50 billion.
