Is China still a developing country?

By international standards, China is still a developing country with many parts of the interior struggling with high poverty levels. 
The‘Beijing Consensus is a model of Chinese-influenced economic growth which is believed to be the best way to develop struggling economies; it emphasizes innovation and sovereignty; IPE specialists wonder whether China’s experience in economic growth can be transplanted in whole or in part to other developing states. 
 Despite the rapid growth of globalization, Beijing has been emphatic about maintaining its sovereignty and has resisted international calls for greater democracy and human rights, saying that China would address them at a pace with which it is comfortable. 
 Since Maoist times, China has been concerned about its ‘peaceful evolution’ or ‘peaceful rise’ and the attempts of outside actors, especially the West to undermine socialism in China through a variety of political, socio-economic and cultural pressures raised much concern in Beijing about a ‘demonstration effect’, or a similar situation arising in China
