What are the negative effects of the One Belt?
Despite the enticing concepts and benefits of this international project, there lies a plethora of secondary motivations and skepticism about the coherence, feasibility, and sustainability of the project. The risk of the project is as great as the ambition because there would be various state actors involved. This project is a double-edged sword because the states may be at peace with each other, or at some point, they might not agree on specific terms, ultimately leading to a domino effect of disarray among the governments and international organizations involved. And by encouraging China to form a maritime Silk Road around the South China Sea, this would only hand them more power and claim to the disputed islands, bolstering its hidden agendas in initiating the project. If the aforementioned event does happen, this would only cause more tension between China and the international judicial institutions that already exist in the current time.
