What are the parts of the China Dream?
Divided into four parts, the China Dream not only targets modernization, it also promotes national rejuvenation to improve the people’s lifestyle and work with the assistance of the government in constructing an economic environment that will become a platform for career development. According to Kuhn (2013), these four parts are as follows: Strong China, creating a state wherein it is politically, diplomatically, scientifically, and militarily at par with superpowers; Civilized China, constructing a state wherein people are engaged in fostering equity and fairness, rich culture, and high morals; Harmonious China, shaping the nation that contributes to the peace among the social classes; and Beautiful China, forging an eco-friendly country that produces low pollution, more environmental protection laws, safeguarding the natural resources and flora and fauna, and generally promoting a safe environment that will attract more tourists annually. The concept of Chinese Dream is very similar to the idea of the “American Dream”. It stresses the importance of entrepreneurial spirit. It also glorifies a generation of self-made men and women in post-reform China such as those rural immigrants who moved to the urban centers and achieved magnificent improvement in terms of their living standards and social life.
