What happened during and after the holocaust?
Jews have been persecuted since time immemorial. After World War One, Germany was left in pile of rubble after accumulating debt and economic depression due to losing the war which destroyed the spirits of Germans. Adolf Hitler took advantage of the sentiments of the Germans whose lives were destroyed. This gave rise to the persecution of Jews, who were blamed for the downfall of Germany. Jews were then captured, sent to concentration camps where they were treated inhumanely until 1945. Around six million Jews have been reportedly murdered due to one of the most gruesome genocides recorded in world history. As the Allied Forces won the war in September 1945, this also marked the end of the persecution of Jewish people in Germany after years of suffering from the Third Reich. January 27 is a memorial for those who died under the rule of Adolf Hitler. Three years later after the end of world war, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was developed to ensure that such genocide would not happen again in the near future. The Declaration of Human Rights is a milestone because it set a standard for states to adhere regarding on how states should treat its people regardless of ethnicity, gender, age, race, religion, and social background.
