How can you help your sibling come out to your parents?
Supporting your siblings is your utmost priority right now. You don’t know how your parents might react to your sibling’s decision of coming out, so showing that your sibling can count on you for strength will give them the willpower to speak up to your parents. Telling your siblings inspirational pep talks will help them prepare emotionally and mentally for whatever your parents might react. Being respectful about the topic towards your parents will help reduce the tension. In order to alleviate your sibling’s anxiety, you must help them prepare what they would say. Holding their hand while they come out to your parents might help them feel relaxed throughout the conversation. Also, be prepared if the situation goes out of hand. You must be able to step up and handle the situation gracefully. Try considering your parents’ side as well, but showing your sibling you love them despite who they are will show that in the 21st century, the world has truly progressed since being part of the LGBTQ+ is normal.
