What can the Philippines do to abolish corruption in the government?
The Philippines is known to have one of the most corrupt governments in the world. Numerous political scandals plague the news every day. In addition, studies show that a corrupt government has a high relativity to a country’s poverty rate, literacy rate, and economic growth. It is apparent that the more corrupt a government is, the slower the growth rate of the country. In order to abolish corruption in the Philippines and in general is to educate the people in electing government officials who have good credibility, records, and platform. Avoid electing officers who have bad records in the past because they are highly susceptible to corruption. Having an informed population who has access to news and information about political candidates can help reduce corruption since people get to make wiser decisions who they will elect. It is difficult to abolish corruption within 50 years or more, however, with small steps where everyone cooperates to make a change, in time, Philippines has the potential to be a corruption-free government.
