When should you cut friendships?
Friendships that no longer serve you a good positively must not be tolerated. A friend must always be uplifting and supportive on the decisions you make in making your life healthier. Friends who leave their friends during their difficult times and only come back when life is great again are those who need to be tossed in the trash bin. Before totally burning bridges, one must weigh the good and the bad things that friend has done. If the good outweighs the bad, then you must reconsider as to whether it is worth it to cut ties, or if it is just a fight every friendship has. However, if the bad outweighs the good and there is no more reason to remain friends with that person, it is important to take a step back and ask yourself, “Is this the person I want to be friends with in the long run? Are they still contributing positively to my goals? Do I see myself with this person when I grow old?” These questions can help you evaluate if that friendship is deep enough to be saved and reconciled, or if it is something petty and temporary.
